Backwell School is pleased to offer members of the local community the opportunity to join one of a number of evening courses being held at the school from January 2008. 

Over 250 students enrolled on our courses again last year, far exceeding our expectations.  Feedback from students has been very positive with many commenting on the good organisation of courses, the excellent tutors who teach to a high standard and find time for personal attention, inspiring students to move on, and the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the courses.  Some students have been inspired to attend Art Foundation courses and the possibility of then going on to take an Art degree. 

All courses are leisure courses with the emphasis on learning in an enjoyable and supportive environment with paper work kept to a minimum.

Some of this year’s students displayed their work at an exhibition at Backwell School as part of North Somerset Arts Week, and Village Voices took part in school’s Spring Concert and joined others in the local community involved in the Theatre Orchard Project’s performances in May.

This year we welcome six new tutors who will be teaching garden design, batik, embroidery, printing and further art courses.
