Lost Property

The school has an enormous amount of lost property handed in each week.    In order to help us deal with this, please could you ensure that you label your child’s possessions and as much equipment as possible. The label needs to include at least a surname (preferably their full name and tutor group) in order to be successfully reunited with your child; Please do not just use their initials.

We endeavour to return named items of lost property to students as quickly as possible. If it is not named, we will hold it for a reasonable amount of time to see if someone comes forward to claim it. However we cannot hold items indefinitely and any unnamed items which we have held for a long time are eventually disposed of.

Therefore, if your child has lost anything, be that a pencil case, jumper or coat etc, then please send them to the Student Services Office as soon as possible to see whether the item has been handed in, and ask them to keep checking over the next week or so to see if the item has turned up. There are two boxes outside of Student Services which contain property that has been found during the course of the current week. Students can access these boxes at any time to search for lost items themselves.

After a week, any unnamed and unclaimed items are locked in a cupboard which students can access by asking a member of staff in Student Services.  These items will be held at Student Services for as long as possible before being disposed of.  Please be assured that we do our best to reunite lost property with its owner as we appreciate the cost involved in replacing school uniform and equipment.

Valuable Items

Students should not carry large amounts of money or bring valuable electronic items to school, as students’ possessions are not covered by the school’s insurance policy. If they lose a valuable item (eg a watch, glasses, phone or money, etc) they will need to report it to Mrs Gardner, the Headteacher’s PA.  All found items of value are held in the PA’s Office.
