Backwell School Association

FUNDRAISING

In a typical school year the Backwell School Association raises £6,000 to £8,000 from a wide range of events that take place every year. Some of these events include the Christmas Fair, Year 7 Barbecue, Lower School Discos and Summer Ball. Last year the committee produced a calendar featuring photographs of members of staff depicted in scenes from well known films which proved a huge success.

A Summer Fayre was held last year on Saturday 27 June and a valiant attempt was made to break the Guinness Book of Records record for the most number of people to run a three-legged race.  Sadly we did not get the required number of people but staff students and parents gave it their best shot.

WELCOME FROM THE BSA COMMITTEE

UPDATE MARCH 2010

At the beginning of this academic year, the BSA set out to make the maximum possible donation to Backwell School under the rules of a centrally funded scheme which matches our donation pound for pound. With your help we have fully achieved the maximum of £15000 meaning Backwell School students benefit from a whopping £30,000.

The funds will be used to update sound and lighting facilities in the Theatre. This will be a great asset for the school, and a benefit for the whole community. The committee look forward to unveiling the new facilities which we are sure will be of great interest to the local community, performers, artists and theatre goers of all ages.

Special thanks to all who have helped us manning bars, selling tickets or attending any of the events during the last year - your support is very much appreciated.
