Backwell Sixth Form continues to set records, with numbers around 400, a growth of almost 100 students in five years.
This popularity is due in large part to Backwell’s reputation for academic excellence. In 2011, students at A Level reached new heights – with over 56% of A Level entries graded at ‘A*, ‘A’ or ‘B’. However, we are proud to offer a Sixth Form experience above and beyond examination results. As Ofsted said in their most recent visit (October 2008):
“The sixth form is led and managed exceptionally well. (Students) enjoy the atmosphere in the school and are appreciative of the very high quality teaching and support they receive and the wide range of extra-curricular opportunities available.”
In fact, Ofsted graded Backwell as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas reported upon.
