Autumn 2020 Examination Season
Summer 2021 Examination Season
The government have announced that the Summer 2021 exams will be delayed to allow extra teaching time for GCSE and A level students. Therefore the exam season for almost all AS and A levels, and GCSEs will start on 7 June and end on 2 July. However, it is also planned that one maths and one English GCSE exam will be held just before the May half-term.
AQA and OCR have also confirmed that the summer timetable for the vocational qualifications (CNATs, CTECs and Applied Science) will be adjusted to align with the GCSEs and A-levels (as will results days).
Contingency Day – Each year a day is set aside as a contingency day by the Joint Council for Qualifications in case of sustained national or local disruption. As such, all exam candidates, both GCSE and A level, must be available to sit exams from the start of the season until this contingency day. We have not yet been notified of this date.
Results Day 2021
AS and A level results day - Tuesday 24 August
GCSE results day - Friday 27 August
JCQ Information - Exam Rules and Regulations
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) also issue guidance for students taking exams. It is important that all students taking exams are familiar with the content of these documents. They are valid for all 2020/21 exam seasons.
