Enrichment

In the Sixth Form at Backwell, we offer a lot of opportunities outside the classroom.  We expect all sixth form students to take part in these activities because they are enjoyable, they complement the work done in lessons and they are seen as extremely valuable by future employers and universities.

There are four main types of enrichment opportunities:

  • Volunteering – at Backwell School through the Sixth Form Help Scheme and charity fundraising, or outside of school through the ‘Community Action’ programme.

  • Sport and Culture – such as the annual Sixth Form Production, house matches and the Paarlauf Relay race.

  • Competitions – such as the Young Enterprise scheme, inter-tutor group debating, 'University Challenge' and the Woodspring Parliamentary Debating Tournament.

  • Academic Enrichment – summer schools, work experience placements, essay-writing competitions, university seminars and workshops are all advertised regularly for Sixth Form students.
