Sixth Form

Backwell Sixth Form continues to set records, with numbers around 400, a growth of almost 100 students in five years.

This popularity is due in large part to Backwell’s reputation for academic excellence.  In 2019, students at A Level again performed well – with over a quarter of exam entries graded at ‘A* or ‘A’, and 74% of results at grade C or above, with an overall pass rate of 97%.   However, we are proud to offer a Sixth Form experience above and beyond examination results.  As Ofsted said in their most recent visit (October 2013):

“In this outstanding school, all groups of students thrive, achieve highly and are very well prepared for the next stage of their education.”

In fact, Ofsted graded Backwell as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas reported upon.
